The key issues facing the offshore industry, and Dubai has chance to become the unique jurisdiction, by Jonathon Clifton - Arabian Business, November 2014

The Arabian Business has recently featured the opinion of “What are the key trends and issues facing the offshore industry?” by Jonathon Clifton, Asia Managing Director of Offshore Incorporations (OIL).

While this year’s “Offshore 2020” survey indicated the rise of mid-shore jurisdictions is seen as inevitable, it is also interesting to observe the rise of Dubai as the main financial hub and key jurisdiction of the Middle East.

The UAE, and Dubai in particular, have been designated as offshore financial centres by the IMF, the Financial Secretary Index and the OECD. In terms of combination of traditional offshore benefits and onshore credibility, Dubai is also well placed.

Jonathon believes Dubai has every opportunity to become the jurisdiction of unique offshore and onshore solutions in the region that can be offered to the international financial community.
