Vistra BVI Legal Services Celebrates First Anniversary

Starting our operations in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) on the heels of Hurricane Irma in September 2017 was indeed a challenge. Nonetheless, Vistra Legal BVI was able to provide invaluable legal services for Vistra’s clients, particularly with matters relating to the registration of charges and the forced transfer of registered agent/office.

In January 2018, Vistra’s BVI office resumed normal operations post Hurricane Irma, and Vistra Legal BVI was able to establish its physical presence and operations in the BVI, We have expanded our offering and are now able to provide a diverse range of legal services to the wider Vistra network in UK, Switzerland, Cyprus and BVI.

Our legal service offerings include providing transactional legal opinions; reviewing and advising on finance and security documents such as BVI share charges; drafting merger documents, bespoke M&As, limited partnerships documents and shareholders’ agreements; and providing ad hoc advice on authorised capital, capital contributions, increase/decrease of capital, distributions, redemption of shares, transfer of shares, fractional shares, appointment and resignation of officers, continuation and liquidation.

Vistra Legal BVI’s ability to build up its service offerings in such a relatively short period of time, despite challenging circumstances, could not have been achieved without the hard work and dedication of the BVI legal team, the support of the Vistra network and the continued encouragement of our valuable clients, who placed their trust and confidence in the Vistra brand.

Leveraging our global network, alongside the acquisition of Jordans Corporate Law in the UK in 2016, a law firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority in the UK; and, the acquisition of Optegra in Germany in 2017, now Vistra Germany, which encompasses a law firm based in Munich, Germany, has helped promote and accelerate the presence of Vistra as a legal services provider to its clients.
