Executive Director, Head of Private Clients, Greater China
Yumei Zhang was appointed Head of Private Clients, Greater China of Vistra in October 2019. In her role, she is responsible for driving the strategy, commercial success and operational excellence of the Private Client Services portfolio.
Yumei has nearly 20 years’ experience working in the finance industry, having held senior positions in private client and trust service businesses within both the banking and the independent trust company sectors. She plays an active role in the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She is a fully qualified STEP member and a member of the Executive Committee of the STEP Hong Kong branch as well as a member of STEP Hong Kong China Sub-Committee. In addition, Yumei is also an Associate Member of the London based Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Prior to joining Vistra, she was a Senior Wealth Director at Bank of New York Mellon in Hong Kong, responsible for helping high-net-worth clients in Asia with their multi-jurisdictional and multi-generational wealth planning and succession structures. Before that, she was instrumental in setting up, and subsequently managing, an independent trust company in Hong Kong, which was part of a significant fiduciary group based in Guernsey. Yumei also has unique experience in the development of regulatory and governance policies with offshore jurisdictions having worked at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission for five years.
She holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in English from Nanjing University, a M.Sc. in Development Economics from the University of Bath, and a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Strathclyde. Her native language is Chinese and she speaks fluent English.
