Why did you join Vistra?
I joined Vistra in 2014 because I felt it was a very passionate firm that valued its people. As a corporate services company, I strongly believe that Vistra’s people are not only one of the company’s best assets but more importantly, the soul of the organisation. I was excited to join Vistra and be part of that.
Can you share a significant Vistra career milestone that stands out for you?
The establishment of a team dedicated to the relationship management of our core corporate clients and targeted at the growth of the IPO corporate services sector. Both these service lines have proven to be profitable and have further positioned us as experts in our industry. Moreover, the relationship management team has helped deliver the sort of client experience that a reputable international firm like Vistra is positioned for. I place a lot of emphasis on the client experience and want our clients to enjoy real human interaction, not just receive standard template answers and blank forms to complete. Everything is done with the end-user in mind, and it is the client experience that has differentiated us from our competitors.
What does One Vistra mean to you and do you have an example of this?
For me, One Vistra means working together so the client can enjoy the same experience no matter which office they go to.
What motivates you to come to work every day – in the office or working from home?
The faith that my clients have in me keeps me going despite these challenging times. My desire to not let them down is what drives me to go the extra mile.
How do you manage work-life balance? Do you think the concept of work-life balance has changed through the current crisis?
Prior to the crisis, it was easy to find yourself spending long hours in the office. At the height of the crisis earlier this year, however, life slowed down on the whole as we adjusted to working from home. Surprisingly, I found it a nice balance to be able to spend solid time working while still being at home with my family.
What has helped you stay focused – at work and personally – through the current crisis?
Hong Kong has not been as severely impacted by Covid-19 as other countries. We have managed to continue very much as normal, although with some slowdowns in certain jurisdictions. Most of all, we are all trying to be flexible and adapt to working from home. The crisis means that we are not able to meet our clients or our intermediaries face-to-face as much as we would like, but we have various other means to stay in touch.
