Kareem Robinson

Kareem is a seasoned offshore financial services professional with over 20 years of progressive management and technical experience in various facets of the offshore financial services industry, including trust and fiduciary company administration (private and corporate), investment funds (hedge, private equity and unit trusts), structured and asset finance and regulatory compliance and oversight.
Prior to joining Vistra, Kareem was the Deputy Head of the Securities Supervision Division at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), having previously served in senior management capacities at various global corporate and fiduciary firms and offshore banks.

Kareem has significant experience in closing and managing – throughout the life of the deal -  complex portfolios of alternative investment and special purpose vehicles and corporate trust structures, which consist of CDOs/CLOs (cash, synthetic, hybrid, managed and static), securitizations, note programs (loan funded), share trustee, investment funds, holding companies and asset finance structures (sale and leaseback) for on and off-balance sheet transactions, for which he also served as the administrator and director.

Kareem also has intimate knowledge and involvement in preparing and quoting on new business inquiries, reviewing and negotiating intricate transaction and corporate documents, in addition to liaising with deal specific financial services providers and intermediaries such as onshore and offshore legal counsel, collateral/investment managers, trustees, administrators, prime-brokers and accounting firms.

Before a career in capital markets, Kareem spent the former part of his financial services career in private banking and wealth management as a Senior Relationship Manager on the Canadian desk of a major French offshore bank and was responsible for the management and growth of an offshore portfolio of discretionary and non-discretionary high net worth private client and institutional accounts and has practical knowledge of the investment, settlement and valuation process of investment funds, debt and equity securities and  complex option and synthetic (derivatives) transactions, having worked in both the front and back office of a global private bank. 

In addition to his varied financial services background and experience, Kareem has a very strong regulatory acumen, having been involved in many key regulatory initiatives while at CIMA, where he served as a representative at numerous regulatory meetings and conferences both locally and abroad.
Kareem is well respected in the regulatory community and is often sought out by those in the financial services industry for his regulatory expertise and counsel, in addition to participating in round table discussions at conferences and seminars.  

Kareem holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada.
