Director, Solicitor and Head of Commercial Law
Declan joined Vistra in July 2018. He leads Vistra Corporate Law’s commercial law team and heads up tech sector practice, advising tech companies as well as their customers in connection with IT projects.
Declan has expertise in advising fast growth early-stage tech companies as well as well-known global tech organisations. He also supports clients with intellectual property transactions, outsourcing, data protection and competition law. Clients praise Declan for defusing tense negotiations and focusing on what's important. Prior to joining Vistra, Declan spent several months on secondment to assist a client with launching a blockchain based product.
Declan trained as a competition law solicitor at a boutique law firm in 2009 whilst also studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in EC Competition Law from King’s College London. Qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, he then began working in Bristol as a commercial IP/IT solicitor with another niche commercial law firm. In 2014 he joined international law firm Osborne Clarke and worked on a number of technology projects, particularly in the Transport and Energy & Utilities sectors. Declan joined Capital Law in 2017 where he worked on a number of blockchain projects.
Declan studied for his law degree at the University of Reading and completed his Legal Practice Course at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He has also gained a Post Graduate Diploma in EC Competition Law from King’s College London.
His native language is English but he also speaks fluent Welsh.
