Tijs joined Vistra as Commercial Director of the São Paulo office in 2015 following Orangefield and Vistra’s merger. He has been in Brazil since 2007 and joined the Orangefield team in 2012.
He began his career in investment banking in 1998 with ABN AMRO Rothschild in Amsterdam. In 2001 he then moved to London to become a director in equity capital markets and since 2005 his focus has been on Latin American markets, especially Brazil. He was transferred to the São Paulo-based head office of Banco Real in 2007 from where he was involved in various international equity capital market transactions on behalf of Brazilian multinationals. After the split of ABN AMRO he decided to stay in Brazil from where he joined the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in 2011.
Tijs received his master’s degree in economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and also specialised in finance at the University of Luigi Bocconi in Milan.
His native language is Dutch, but he is also fluent in English and Portuguese.
