We have a full-time, permanent opportunity available for an experienced Java Developer and DevOps to join our ever expanding IT team - an exciting time to be joining!

You will be working as part of a wider team; working hours Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - 35 hours a week. Ideally to start as soon as possible! For a full job description please email 

Key Responsibilities

• Development
• Develop using good design practice.
• Test & debug code
• Use of java build tools
• Control of source decks branching/ merging
• Remain current on Java developments or changes
• Support and refactor existing system code in a non-invasive way.
• Review and evolve build pipelines and production application robustness and delivery
• Support ability to deliver product on a continuous delivery capacity

Key technical skills required:

JIRA Agile tools for backlog tracking and reporting, 5 years Java development, Rest / Soap webservices, SQL & Relational Databases, Hibernate, Spring
Liferay / portal, Thorough knowledge of linux and windows, Good knowledge of Infrastructure / Comms, Scripting bash, Automation, Jenkins – continuous delivery integration – Jenkins blue pipelines, Git, Knowledge of tool integration – yml json, Monitoring topology, graphana, ELK, Prometheous, AlertManager, BlackBoxProber, Portainer, Understanding of alternative delivery ecosystems – cloud based, Docker

Qualifications and other requirements


• Degree level - Bsc in Computer Science or equivalent
• Demonstrable proactive approach to keep abreast of current relevant technologies


• Minimum of 5 years of commercial software development
• Minimum of 5 years devops experience
• Experience with Agile development processes
• Confidence to estimate, code, code review, mentor and offer opinion on technical solution
• Experienced with waterfall or agile working practices
• Docker as part of the build process and in production  - 1 year
• Designing monitoring systems surfacing root cause issue intelligently
• Improving and maintaining monitoring systems
