Associate Director, Head of HR UK & Ireland

We are looking for an HR Manager who will oversee 4 offices in the UK and Ireland (London, Reading, Bristol & Dublin). You will report directly to our Group Business Partner, Europe & Americas, based in Amsterdam and will be responsible for overseeing a team of 4 local HR Officers. Ideally the candidate will possess a deep knowledge in Human Resources practice in a similar industry and have experience in coordinating and managing a team at different locations.

• Leading the UK and Ireland HR teams by coaching and mentoring in order to ensure the implementation of global HR strategies as well as meeting all the local people- and local obligations.
• Work closely with the other local HR Managers and Group HR team to align best practice
• Developing, with local MDs, human resource (HR) planning strategies, which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements in terms of numbers and skill levels. Drive the performance management together with the MD based on the OKR system.
• Develop, plan and implement a corporate strategy for HR management and development in conjunction with Global HR. Optimize the HR services provided in the locations by creating a cluster approach and sharing responsibilities across the region.
• Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring and reporting necessary aspects of HR development
• Acting to support the human factor within Vistra UK by devising strategies for performance evaluation, staffing, training and development etc.
• Overseeing all UK HR initiatives, systems and tactics
• Serve as the point of contact for employment relations and communicate with labor unions
• Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards
• Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required
• Anticipate and resolve litigation risks
• Report to senior management by analyzing data and using HR metrics
• Recruitment of senior management (Business roles)
• Liaise with other functional/departmental managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of HR development, and assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
• Analysing training needs in conjunction with local MDs.
• Manage 3rd party relationships effectively (e.g. with legal advisers and recruitment agencies)
• Part of M&A projects and implementation


Key Responsibilities

 • Responsible for alignment with and roll out of global HR guidelines and policies
• Developing efficiency initiatives to achieve centralization within relevant jurisdictions
• Leading and advising in (operational) HR processes/ matters
• Driving employee engagement initiatives
• Interpreting and resolving resource requirements in each jurisdiction
• Driving performance management based on OKR and supporting senior management in the process
• Leading employee development by using the Vistra talent management tool and determining training and development needs
• Responsible for the employment and compliance regulations regarding employees and organizational change

Qualifications and other requirements

 • CIPD Qualified
• Excellent knowledge of current HR practice and procedure
• Excellent knowledge of employment law
• Good knowledge of Microsoft office applications and payroll systems
• Pro-active, able to analyse problems and suggest appropriate courses of action
• Able to plan/prioritise work and operate efficiently under time pressure
• Able to communicate effectively, in particular working effectively with the operating Boards of all businesses
• Communicate effectively with all areas of the business (good team player)
• Must be a competent writer of letters and correspondence
• Having good working contacts with local/national recruitment agencies/head-hunters
• Occasional travel is required for the role

• Proven experience as a HR Manager
• Proven experience of how strategy is implemented within an organization in order to meet its objectives
• Excellent knowledge of local employment legislation and regulations
• Thorough knowledge of human resource management principles and best practices
• Positive outlook, with sense of humour and empathic personality
• Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with a senior executive team
• A business acumen partnered with attention to the human element
• Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Diligent and firm with high ethical standards
• BSc/BA in human resources, business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA in human resources will be a plus
