Vistra Jersey Aids With Building a Primary School in Bangladesh

Close

In partnership with Jersey Overseas Aid Commission, Vistra Jersey engaged in an extremely rewarding community programme that built a primary school in Muktaram village, Bangladesh. The Jersey Overseas Aid Commission is highly active in the humanitarian field, supporting community projects in societies that need it the most.

This kind of aid is invaluable to communities where poverty is prevalent. Our employees at Vistra Jersey organized fundraising events, including a staff cake sale, prior to the project to facilitate the process as well as raise awareness across the network. The objective was to provide school buildings and equipment in one of the poorest areas of the country.

To demonstrate our full commitment to the cause, one of our employees, Karen Hassett, traveled to the project site in Muktaram village of Northern Bangladesh. Together with the Jersey Overseas Aid team, Karen assisted in building the brand new school block, large enough to enable more children from the surrounding areas to attend school.

Seeing firsthand the school conditions, Karen witnessed the need of support in areas where development is severely hampered. In many parts of Bangladesh, children walk miles to go to school for just a few hours a day. These schools usually consist of a metal structure, making school life hot in the summer months and non-existent in the monsoon season.

This experience was invaluable as the contribution made a significant difference to children’s lives and futures. We are proud to have participated in such an impactful project and are committed to continue our work with organizations such as the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission to engage our employees in charitable initiatives.
