Key Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain legal precedents (fund administration agreements, engagement agreements, etc.) to ensure consistent approach to issues and risk is taken Group wide
  • Take the lead on drafting and negotiation of relevant fund agreements
  • Advise on relevant regulatory restrictions and requirements
  • Keep abreast of amendments and changes in applicable regulations and legislation, and provide summaries to business management as applicable
  • Manage and coordinate external legal counsel (where required)
  • Assist with legal aspects of litigation and commercial disputes
  • Assist on legal related matters, including complaints, legal actions, and material correspondence from regulators (as appropriate)
  • Review legal aspects of new products and services
  • Assist Group Legal with other legal matters where appropriate

Qualifications and other requirements

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant, professional post-qualification experience preferably in the field of alternative investment funds acquired with a firm of international repute or the in-house department of a financial institution
  • Significant experience in the drafting, review and negotiation of fund administration documentation and deep understanding of the regulatory framework
  • Previous Private Equity or Hedge Funds experience is highly advantageous
  • University degree in law, preferably at Master level, and qualification in an EU jurisdiction
  • Excellent capacity for logical structuring of oral and written communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptability and attentiveness to interpersonal relations with staff at all levels of the organisation
  • Display a high level of professional integrity and confidentiality
  • Able to work in a multi-faceted environment and sensitive to divisional business issues.
  • Consultancy skills in order to be a trusted adviser to the business on Legal issues.
  • Credible and effective communicator with proven relationships with industry and/or market contacts
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and display emotional resilience
