Assistant Manager, Reporting & Accounting

Function of Reporting & Accounting (RA) Team

  • Operate as part of Finance SSC.
  • Responsible for the Record-to-Report (R2R) end-to-end process.
  • Responsible for the statutory accounts of the various subsidiaries within the Group, in compliance with the relevant GAAP, regulations and company policies.
  • Provision of financial and management reports to support business decision making.
  • Tax computation and filing of direct & indirect tax returns.
  • Drive process & system improvements while balancing the need for internal control.

Key Responsibilities

Main Duties

  • Lead and manage the Reporting & Accounting (RA) team to meet all month-end close reporting requirements.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the RA team.
  • Establish and enforce quality controls that ensure the accuracy of all the financial statements and management reports.
  • Perform month-end closing and ensure integrity of the subsidiaries’s accounting.  This includes identifying & posting relevant journal entries, accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Work with group finance in the production of consolidated financial statements.  This includes uploading financial and statistical data into Hyperion and performing reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial reports for management review, including dashboard and variance analysis.
  • Key contact person for the subsidiaries’s accounting.  Work with other SSC teams to ensure transactions are booked accurately and on time.
  • Focal point of contact for year-end audit.  Work with auditors to finalize audited accounts, prepare and provide analysis of various audit schedules.
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures & policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
  • Actively participate and lead end-to-end process improvement and standardization within SSC and across other areas within the company.  Ensure processes meet internal control requirements.
  • Balance RA resource needs, improve accountability and drive ownership, while ensuring consistent service delivery.
  • Lead ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications and other requirements

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Degree in accounting and qualified accountant with good computer skills especially in Excel.
  • Strong leader & team player with analytical business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential. 
  • Experience in driving process improvements, able to spot issues and take corrective action.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Results-oriented and detail-minded person with ability to see the big picture.
  • Able to work under pressure in meeting deadlines. Hardworking.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to deal with ambiguities, able to work within ill-defined boundaries and challenge status quo.
  • Good knowledge of HKFRS, IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Familiar with China bookkeeping requirements.
  • Work experience in a Shared Services Centre an advantage.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English & Chinese.
