VAT and Taxation Manager

Vistra is seeking a VAT and Taxation manager to join the Dublin finance team. The role will be responsible for all tax compliance and will be comprised mainly of VAT and Corporation tax, reporting to the Head of Finance. 

Vistra, through its Irish subsidiary, Vistra Alternative Investments (Ireland) Limited, is a market leader in Ireland in the provision of administration and support services to special purpose vehicles (SPVs) established by international banks and fund managers to facilitate cross border transactions. 

The Corporate Services Division (CSD) provides a range of services including accounting, VAT, company secretarial and directors to SPVs engaged in various types of financing transactions including asset finance and leasing, multi issuance debt programmes and structured finance transactions.  

Major clients include international investment banks and fund managers. The business in Ireland forms part of a global business which has more than 40 offices in locations including Hong Kong, US, UK, Mauritius, Channel Islands, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, Dubai and Cayman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that VAT filing deadlines are met
  • Review the calculation of VAT liabilities of client entities, including recovery rates
  • Ensure VAT procedures are complied with, kept up to date and relevant
  • Have responsibility for the VAT calculations of Vistra management entities
  • Manage the tax team (3 people)
  • Liaise with Revenue and with clients
  • Assist the Transaction Manager to determine if new entities should be registered for VAT
  • Reconcile Vat workings to audited financial statements
  • Work with the tax advisors and the Client Services team to ensure, as far as possible, that all corporation tax returns for client entities are filed on time
  • Good knowledge of and experience in using ROS
  • Perform the role of director of SPVs
  • Assist with tax related projects as required
  • General administration duties and filing

Qualifications and other requirements

  • Highly numerate and accurate with a methodical and organised approach, the position would suit an Associate of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland and/or a Qualified Accountant.
  • Experience in the tax department of a large audit firm would be a distinct advantage.
  • Substantial experience of VAT and its workings
  • Methodical and organised and a skilled communicator.
  • Must be able to work with all levels within the organisation
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • The ability to adapt to changing priorities and varied decision-making scenarios
  • An ability and desire to work to tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with colleagues, clients, other divisions/ offices of the bank and professional intermediaries
