Crossing borders

Increased mobility of individuals and corporations across the globe is clear for all to see. Whilst most of our competitors tend to excel in providing services in single jurisdictions or individual specialities, they often lack the in-house resources and expertise to assist clients with Global transactions. Vistra’s unique approach through one single contact gives access to expertise within the major jurisdictions. Our contacts create solutions to meet each customers expectations with regard to tax efficiency, estate planning or asset protection.

Increased complexity in tax and legal matters means that our customers are becoming more sophisticated, regarding personal and tailor-made service as paramount. Complicated corporate or family situations should only need a single explanation for one of our professionals to come to a full understanding of the client’s needs. One of Vistra’s key philosophies is to provide this personal service to advisors and clients at all times and within all specialties.

Recent years have also brought increased international regulation in compliance and client acceptance policies. Increased regulation invariably means increased paperwork and often requires smaller firms to employ sub-contracted expertise, increasing cost and complexity for both advisor and client. At Vistra confidentiality, discretion and data protection are absolutely guaranteed in all jurisdictions and in any transfer of information between offices that our clients request.

At Vistra we pride ourselves on being large enough to provide the full range of trust and corporate services to wealthy individuals, business owners, multi-national corporations and their advisors. At the same time however we are conscious of the fact that we can guarantee personal service, tailored solutions and the communication that our customers rely upon to face the challenges and maximise the financial opportunities of the 21st Century. Creating solutions

Vistra was created in 2006 from a management buy-in of the private client business of London taxation experts Chiltern plc. We have pledged to remain truly independent providers, working together with our clients, lawyers and tax advisors to choose the most appropriate solutions from a worldwide selection - unbiased by corporate ties.

Our principals are all experts within their fields, supported by a range of specialist staff recruited from leading financial institutions, members of professional bodies and recognised authorities in each discipline. These specialists include lawyers, chartered accountants, trust and estate practioners, taxation and immigration experts.

Each of our offices provides the full range of trust, corporate and estate planning solutions. Our people around the globe are fluent in the major world languages including English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, Polish, Russian and Finnish.

Vistra is rapidly expanding its global network and will be opening new offices soon. Our current jurisdictions were chosen for specific beneficial legislative and regulatory climates:

  • The United Kingdom – with the largest network of double income tax agreements in the world, efficient solutions are easily accessible for non-domiciled individuals. Our London staff also specialise in immigration services for individuals, families and employees, including estate migration.
  • Switzerland - one of the world’s oldest and most stable financial centres, our full range of services is provided in no less than seven languages.
  • Jersey – a well respected and fiercely independent offshore jurisdiction, also hosting Vistra’s specialist Marine and Aviation expertise.
  • Belgium – an important financial gateway for Asian investors looking to move into Europe and Europeans regarding Asia since the 2004’s double tax treaty with Hong Kong.
  • New Zealand – regarded by legislative bodies as a conventional OECD onshore jurisdiction, Auckland offers an alternative solution for many private and corporate circumstances.

Vistra’s full range of solutions and jurisdictional expertise is detailed on www.vistra.com or please feel free to contact one of our offices for a comprehensive discussion of your personal requirements.

Marine and Aviation Services

Vistra’s Marine and Aviation Team, used a custom-designed stand at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show (20-23 September) to introduce Vistra to the international super yacht industry. Leveraging off the team’s existing reputation for delivery of market-leading client service levels and bespoke solutions, the team enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with existing clients and develop new opportunities at what is now recognised as the premier event in the super yacht calendar.

Hot on the heels of this successful event, Matthew Ruane, director of Vistra Marine was invited to give a presentation at this year’s Yachts and Super yachts conference in Zurich, which, together with Vistra’s new face-to-face client-care program has the team travelling to Geneva, Malta, UK and Paris, in the final quarter of this year.

Vistra offers Marine and Aviation Services as a part of our total solutions service, from registration and VAT recovery to crew payroll and employment services. We advise on the full spectrum of scenarios including commercial, private and international leasing structures. Our Marine and Aviation team will ensure that our client’s costs and tax exposure is minimised while operational flexibility is maximised.

Immigration Services

Although the world has become smaller in the 21st Century, physically moving yourself and your family from one area to another is becoming more and more complicated as regulation increases.

The United Kingdom has the largest network of double taxation agreements in the world and provides unique opportunities for non-domiciled individuals .We are fortunate to have a specialist immigration team based in Vistra’s London office who are regulated by the appropriate immigration body within the UK. We are authorised to advice upon and undertake various applications in coming to the UK under a wide range of immigration categories. Once in the UK the team can assist for continued leave to remain, indefinite leave to remain, and eventually even British citizenship. In addition we are also able to advice on employee/employer matters, and efficient estate management with particular regard to immigration to and emigration from the UK.

Vistra’s Imagery

In sourcing our website imagery, we wanted representations to truly reflect Vistra’s ethos of crossing borders, creating solutions.

We found our own solution in Yann Arthus Bertrand who specialises in aerial photography and has won the French Legion D’Honneur for his photographic work on the environment. Most of the images on the website are taken from his work, and those of his photographic colleagues. His talent for taking complicated subjects – often unappealing from the ground - and providing a new point of view that highlights their innate stability and beauty fits perfectly with Vistra’s new vision.
